Info sull'evento
This second course (can be done independantly) is to help all osteopaths become better equipped to continue their osteopathic journey into systemic and visceral health / disease. Â Here embryology and global anatomy of the body cavities allows an exploration of breathing in terms of pressures, looks at visceral column movement, looks at fluids (vascular, lymph, serous / peritoneal / pleural / cranial) and how the coelum formation and organisation helps physiologically. Â Introduces immune communication through fluids, and helps establish a systemic approach to 3D osteopathy. Â Explains the link between balance, coordination, blood pressure and position change / gravity all must be integrated to organise appropriate autonomic tone / immune and integrated function.Â
It is designed for early career osteopaths, or those starting their osteopathic journey for visceral diseases, presentation and health dysfunctions and challenges, but as it is so packed with evidence and clinical insights, it will suit any osteopath, even if experienced in visceral /systemic care. Â The four programmes follow on from each other, but can be done as stand alone units.Â
This SECOND programme covers IN MORE DEPTH the dynamics of how the body cavities work, how osteopathic principles apply to visceral dynamics: thinking how each system works, and how everything is integrated. Â Now the dynamics of fluids, hydrostasis, cavity pressures and integrated movement functions all come together, to help people understand health for the whole body, immune dynamics and communication through fluids, and how 3D posture and MSK integration is vital for systemic homeostasis. Â Considers how fluids and pressure integration can lead to a pro-inflammatory state that can affect whole body function, if left unbalanced.
Day one includes an introduction to embryology, the organisation of peritoneal folds and ligaments, the passages for fluids and drainage for the organ systems linking it to systemic circulation; day two covers how transmural pressures work physiologically, how the MSK / core abdominal and global posture works to integrate visceral pressure,s and discusses viscerosomatic communication needs to manage pressures and fluid flows together for physiological efficiency, day three includes screening for pressure and fluid dynamics, evaluation, and palpation skills for fluids and immune organ / lymph dynamics. Â Risks and benefits of osteopathic care are discussed.
The course uses extensive evidence base, introduces new concepts and does not rely on one treatment modality. Â This course does not teach 'visceral motility', but instead teaches you how to interact with physiology and the emergent nervous system through applying traditional osteopathic concepts through touch and gentle tissue exploration. Â For osteopaths - you will be asked for your osteopathic registration after enrolment. Â Final year students can apply. Â Brook Lodge Farm Caravan Park - Teaching and Therapy Room, Redhill, Bristol.
These units form part of the face to face teaching components of the Certificate and Diploma programmes in Visceral / Systemic Osteopathy, delivered by Caroline through her postgraduate College, the CNMO.
