Info sull'evento
This advanced level course is to help all osteopaths become better equipped to enhance their clinical engagement with women with complex needs. Â Lots of anatomy and physiology, lots of osteopathic concepts, and integration of neurophysiology, fluids, organ and somato-visceral integration dynamics, posture and movement from an organ perspective, and women's health across the lifespan (including pregnancy, post partum and menopause / the third age). Â The four linked programmes cover everything from general urognynaecology and conditions such as endometriosis, to conception, pregnancy, labour and delivery, post partum, pelvic health, scarring, menopause, prolapse, breast problems, and working with older women. Â
This is the first of four linked units, that can be done together, or as stand alone elements.Â
It is designed for those who have already begun their journey into women's health. Â Ideally people will have attended all 4 of the level 1 women's health programmes, but the level 2 courses can be done independantly if you have some prior experience. Â The four level 2 programmes follow on from each other, but can be done as stand alone units.Â
This first programme covers the complexity of pain, the neurophysiology and neuroanatomy of networks that organise the emotional, behavioural, biological and someatic responses in pain perception and how this impacts on the woman across a variety of clinical presentations, whether that be endometriosis or post partum trauma and recovery from tissue injury, for example. It looks at the heart-mind connection, the facial and stomatognathic reactions in pain and trauma (and a reflection / critical appraisal of the poly vagal / social engagement systems) and how to work with these and how to understand the social and emotional dynamics in women's health issues. Â Looking at all these issues also requires an understanding the of endocrine and immune implications in tissue healing, and disease / disorder management, and who this all impacts on the natural circuadian and menstrual rhythms in women across the lifespan.Â
Day one includes an indepth analysis of pain inclinical practice, with insights for osteopathic approaches, day two how the vagal, autonomic and cardiac-stomatognathic dynamics are integrated in all presentations, and helps you understand how to work on many payers wtih a trauma informed approach, and day three includes undersstanding how to engage nwith the neuroendocrine and immune dynamics operating in pain presetnations, trauma dynamics and in many women's health disorders across the lifespan.
The course uses extensive evidence base, introduces new concepts and does not rely on one treatment modality. Â This course does not teach 'cranial', but instead teaches you how to interact with physiology and the emergent nervous system through applying traditional osteopathic concepts through touch and gentle tissue exploration. Â For osteopaths - you will be asked for your osteopathic registration after enrolment. Â Final year students can apply. Â Exact venue details after enrolment.
These units form part of the face to face teaching componets of the Certificate and Diploma programmes in Women's Health, delivered by Caroline through her postgraduate College, the CNMO. Â For details of that programme, click link for overview pdf on the main events page, or visit cnmo.co.uk
