Sobre o evento

This third course in the visceral and systemic series is to deepen your osteopathic journey into systemic and visceral health / disease.  This helps you to understand cellular respiration, homeostatic regulation, physiological communication and how the body organises itself, how self-regulation works, and how interoception, proprioception and exteroception integrate.

It is designed for early career osteopaths, or those starting their osteopathic journey for visceral diseases, presentation and health dysfunctions and challenges, but as it is so packed with evidence and clinical insights, it will suit any osteopath, even if experienced in visceral /systemic care.  The four programmes follow on from each other, but can be done as stand alone units.

This THIRD programme covers the dynamics of how homeostasis and self-regulation work, how rhythms and oscillations are key to health and how you can work to help the body organise and communicate for health.  In particular, this looks at global breathing, cellular / tissue respiration, biological oscillators, circadian rhythms, arousal and global / default autonomic networks and hormones come together for healthy function.  Further integrates fluids and the immune system, and looks at how cellular level respiration, as well as global respiration work and how vascular fluid systems function.  Considers cardiac autonomics in depth, and begins to integrate this with vagal nuclei balancing with deeper brain areas.

Day one includes a deeper look at the paradigms of health and disease, and how osteopathic concepts in systemic function could be evidenced and validated, and discusses case analysis from these perspectives; day two biological oscillation, physiologic variability, hormonal and other dynamics for health, day three includes dynamics of the respiratory system, the cardiac and vascular systems, and their integration for global health.  Risks and benefits of osteopathic care are discussed.

The course uses extensive evidence base, introduces new concepts and does not rely on one treatment modality.  This course does not teach 'visceral motility', but instead teaches you how to interact with physiology and the emergent nervous system through applying traditional osteopathic concepts through touch and gentle tissue exploration.  For osteopaths - you will be asked for your osteopathic registration after enrolment.  Final year students can apply.  Brook Lodge Farm Caravan Park - Teaching and Therapy Room, Redhill, Bristol.

These units form part of the face to face teaching components of the Certificate and Diploma programmes in Visceral / Systemic Osteopathy, delivered by Caroline through her postgraduate College, the CNMO.  For details of that programme, click link for overview pdf on the main events page, or visit cnmo.co.uk
