About the event
This last course in the level 2 series is all about menopause, breast care and post surgical / complex disorders, third age issues, bone health, gerontology, cancer and long term comorbidities. It completes the detailed exploration into women's health across the lifespan. The four linked level 2 programmes cover everything from general urognynaecology and conditions such as endometriosis, to conception, pregnancy, labour and delivery, post partum, pelvic health, scarring, menopause, prolapse, breast problems, and working with older women.
It is designed for those with prior experience in their women's health care journey, but as it is so packed with evidence and clinical insights, it will suit any osteopath, whether experienced in visceral / pregnancy care / menopause care or not. The four programmes follow on from each other, but can be done as stand alone units.
This FOURTH programme covers the issues of menopause, understanding the metabolic, endocrine immune and other tissue changes in this normal process. Discusses the issues of identity, sense of self, changing body function and changing cognitive representations and how all this impacts on movement, function and agency. Looks at the changing myofascial, fluidic and musculoskeletal / osseous structural changes in later life and implications for practice /clinical presentations. Looks at rehabilitation, exercise and hands on considerations. But the course also covers changing circadian rhtythms, changing sleep, changing respiratory and brain drainage issues, and how the body has a reworked self rgulatory dyamic post menopause and into the third age. The course looks in depth at breast care, management dynamics, post surgical and lymphatic / drainage issues. Finally the course considers working with patients with comorbidities, cancer care, complex needs, post surgical, and gradual failure of structural support in the tissues.
Day one includes an indepth exploration of menopause; day two covers many dynamics relating to breast care and global endocrine / reporductive / organ changes; and day three includes bone health and clinical considerations, cancer care and working with those with complex needs.
The course uses extensive evidence base, introduces new concepts and does not rely on one treatment modality. This course does not teach 'cranial', but instead teaches you how to interact with physiology and the emergent nervous system through applying traditional osteopathic concepts through touch and gentle tissue exploration. For osteopaths - you will be asked for your osteopathic registration after enrolment. Final year students can apply. Exact venue details after enrolment.
These units form part of the face to face teaching componets of the Certificate and Diploma programmes in Women's Health, delivered by Caroline through her postgraduate College, the CNMO. For details of that programme, click link for overview pdf on the main events page, or visit cnmo.co.uk
